Court approves new arrest warrant for ‘Boss’

The three charges were reckless driving causing death, failing to help a victim after a crash and cocaine abuse.

Pol Capt Pichapai Srikhamkhwan, deputy investigation chief at Thong Lor police station, on Tuesday asked the court to issue the warrant for the arrest of Mr Vorayuth based on new evidence - testimony given by experts and examination of cocaine use, Thai media reported.

The arrest warrant for this has a statute of limitations for 15 years.

Earlier, a deputy attorney-general and an acting police chief decided not to arraign him on the charge of reckless driving causing death.

The decision sparked a public outcry and led to a reinvestigation into the case.

Mr Vorayuth, 35, also known as Boss, was wanted on manslaughter charges over the hit-and-run death of Pol Snr Sg Maj Wichian Klanprasert, 47, in the early morning of Sept 3, 2012

He delayed hearing charges seven times. It was not until April 27, 2017, that prosecutors finally charged him with reckless driving causing death and failing to help a crash victim.

He fled on a private plane two days before he was due to face the charges.

k... there you go you finally answered you own question, in that extradition proceedings have not been commenced. Why? because the UK have not confirmed nor denied he was on British soil.

Kurt | 29 August 2020 - 09:50:44

J12, your writings were nonsense. I wrote, UK and Thailand have treaties. UK never will say to Thailand .'get stuffed'. Thailand is not asking/ not wants that RED BULL 'Boss'. Perhaps that 'policy' change now with the renewed charges, valid for many years to come, after 'experts' now all agree 'Boss' was speeding, left dying person alone at the road, had dru...

Jor12 | 28 August 2020 - 15:25:55

K... what exactly is nonsense. Of course they have treaties. Unless you have information to the contrary. Extradition proceedings have not been been commenced because Britain have told them to get stuffed. Meaning they will not give information.

Rorri_2 | 28 August 2020 - 13:07:45

Jor12, if he hasn't broken any law/s, in the UK, then he will NOT be arrested, unless there is an Interpol warrant... which of course there isn't, there was one, but was withdrawn within a few days of being issued... and I think we all, except you, and your bedmates, know why.

Kurt | 28 August 2020 - 09:12:24

@Jor12, Nonsens, UK and Thailand have a extradition treaty. And UK never will say: 'get stuffed'. The only explanation is that Thailand till now didn't ask UK for extradition, indeed not started procedures. Quite Thai normal in certain cases as we know. Don't wag tail with other fantasies.

Jor12 | 27 August 2020 - 18:21:56

K...because extradition proceedings have not been taken and they repeatedly refused to cooperate with Thai authorities. You can also phone mummy and daddy and ask where he is.

Kurt | 27 August 2020 - 10:53:10

@J. Thailand allows dual citizenship ( 2 passports) for a Thai who has at least 1 thai parent. In this case Interpol will know/have it in her data base.. Of course the international press knows always were he remains. Just the thai press not publish that. How do you know that UK told Thailand to get stuffed?

Jor12 | 27 August 2020 - 08:03:27

K..Strange how can the Shinawatra's can get overseas passports. You best check on how foreign passports can be obtained and how citizenship can be obtained. They know he lives in London but British authorities tell Thailand to get stuffed, so is not as easy as you say. Even the press know where he is.

Nasa12 | 26 August 2020 - 13:33:17

Interpol again maybe, some last time half day on Interpol.

Kurt | 26 August 2020 - 11:49:30

Red Bull 'Boss' is already abroad more than 3 years. That is not possible on unlimited tourist visa. Not even in Schengen countries. 'Boss' must have somewhere a permanent visa status. The Thai Government must have knowledge of it. Quite simple.
