Thalang Police reported the arrests of Arunroj Pasaman and Wichuda Charachit, both 24 and both residents of Moo 8, Thepkasattri, Thalang, at about 4pm yesterday (Oct 7).
Officers seized 20,130 ya bah pills, classified as Category 1 narcotics, along with a grey Toyota Yaris Ativ sedan valued at about B700,000 and B8,000 in cash.
The operation took place along Thepkasattri Rd near the Mud Dok Khao intersection, southbound through Tambon Thepkrasattri, and concluded at the Shell Thalang petrol station where the suspects were intercepted.
Police said the arrests followed a tip-off that the pair had been distributing drugs in the Thalang area after receiving supplies from Krabi Province. Officers from Thalang Police Station set up surveillance and deployed undercover officers after learning that the couple planned to pick up a new delivery yesterday.
At around 4pm, police identified the suspects travelling in the Yaris, registered in Phuket, and moved in to stop the vehicle. A search uncovered the haul of meth tablets concealed inside.
Both suspects were taken into custody and charged with jointly possessing Category 1 narcotics with intent to sell, an offence deemed to be for commercial purposes contributing to the spread of drugs and posing a threat to public safety and national security.
Police said further investigations are continuing to identify the network behind the Krabi-Phuket drug route.
