Kusoldharm rescue workers and EMS team from Patong Hospital were also dispatched to the scene.

The driver of the garbage truck, Huang Damrat, 51, told police that he was driving down the hill while returning to Kamala from Phuket Town when his brakes failed.

Unable to avoid the collision, the truck hit the back of a passenger van, starting a cascade of collisions that saw a further two vans, two pickup trucks, four sedans and one SUV damaged.

The matter of compensation for the damaged vehicles has yet to be resolved, Lt Kwansirinat said.

Yes Dek, I wrote it and waited your reaction. So, now the real question again. Why fining a driver so quick before checking with Kamala Municipality about the maintenance of their truck they are responsible for? Has this been handled under the table? Truck working in that hilly area must be in tip top condition. Right?

"Who is the owner..."Another hasty response from K.without even reading the article. It's a Kamala municipality truck as clearly stated in the article.

Who is the owner of the garbage truck? Did the truck got regular technical inspections? ( Responsibility owner). The instant quick 'cosmetic' fining of driver without further investigating ownership liability is strange. Made the garbage truck owner a deal with RTP?

1000 baht why bother, this isn't even a slap on the wrist, hanging would be more appropriate
