Cherng Talay Police were informed of the incident at about 11:30am on Saturday (Feb 3).

Officers were told by staff at Thalang Hospital that a Myanmar man, later identified as Aye Myat Thu, 25, had been rushed to the hospital, but had died from his injuries.

Officers arrived at the construction site to be told by site coordinator Pimpisa Phinijmontri, an employee of Khayankarnkianti Co Ltd, that the incident occurred at about 9am.

Aye Myat Thu had asked to go home because he felt sick and dizzy, Ms  said, adding that she had given permission.

Aye Myat Thu then went to wash his hands before leaving. It is believed he placed his hand on a stack of prefabricated wall panels, which fell on top of him. There were three to four wall panels, weighing 100kg each.

Aye Myat Thu was rushed to hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

Police questioned Aye Myat Thu’s brother, Yan Naing Soe, 31, and his partner Than Htay, 25, who both said they had no idea why Aye Myat Thu had died.

Police said they were continuing their investigation.
