You’re looking to cosy up on the sofa with a classic Christmas movie, maybe some mince pies and a nice glass of mulled wine. Well so are we. And, we could spend all day trying to list all the top Christmas movies since the beginning of time, but we’ll settle for just a few of our favourites for now....and in no particular order...
Home Alone – parts 1 (1990) & 2 (1992) – Everyone has a soft spot for little Kevin McAllister and the Wet Bandits Marv and Harry.
Elf (2003) – Brilliant comedy starring Will Ferrell who plays one of Santa’s elves and goes to New York City to meet his biological father. Classic.
The Santa Clause (1994) – An oldie but a goodie, starring Tim Allen.
Miracle on 34th Street (1947) – This is a great one for the family. No one can resist little Mara Wilson’s cuteness.
Bad Santa (2003) – A naughty but hilarious comedy starring Billy Bob Thornton.
Love Actually (2003) – One for the ladies! That’s not to say that the men out there won’t enjoy it too … but its a great rom-com to enjoy over the holidays.
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) – The king of Halloweentown, Jack Skellington, discovers Christmas Town but doesn’t quite understand the concept.
Scrooge (1951) – A classic family movie, especially for those old bitter Scrooges out there!
Trading places (1983) – Comedy starring Eddie Murphy about a snobbish investor and a wily street con artist who find their positions reversed! Freak Christmas.
The Polar Express (2004) – And finally, one to watch on Christmas eve. A doubting boy boards a magical train that’s headed to the North Pole and Santa Claus’ home.
