Chon Buri claim golden football double at Chiang Mai Games

NATIONAL GAMES: Chon Buri swept the men’s and women’s football titles at the National Games in Chiang Mai.

In the men’s final, Chon Buri edged Chanthaburi 1-0 in an eastern derby with Prateep Panjerakarn scoring the winner after 77 minutes.

In the women’s final, Chon Buri came from behind to beat Bangkok 2-1.

Bangkok’s Kanjana Sangngern opened the scoring after 63 minutes only for Wanwisa Wanjiem to equalise six minutes later. 

Supinya Chaiyarak hit the winner for Chon Buri six minutes from time.

In tennis, Sakon Nakhon’s Nattanon Kanjapanan won gold in the men’s singles after beating Phangnga’s Krittina Koyakul 6-4, 6-1.

In the women’s singles final, Nonthaburi’s Katherine Pornyupa Wetburi defeated Bussarin Raktaengarm of Phuket 6-2, 6-4.

In the mixed doubles final, Chiang Mai’s Yada Wasutpongchai and Tara Tantasuwannalert defeated Phitsanulok’s Tanasan Issarapong and Gelwalin Sukkarattanapreecha 7-6 (10), 4-6, 10-8.

On Monday, rhythmic gymnast Tarathip Sridee swept all four individual apparatus titles.

The Chon Buri athlete, who had also won the individual all-round event earlier, was in a class of her own in the individual clubs, hoop, ball and ribbon competitions.
