Chinese tourist killed in motorbike accident

PHUKET: A 24-year-old Chinese tourist died after his motorbike hit a guardrail in Karon early this morning (Nov 19).

​​Karon Police were called to the scene, on Patak Rd in front of the Karon branch of the Agricultural Land Reform Office (ALRO), at 5:20am.

Officers arrived at the scene to find a white Honda PCX motorbike, registered in Phuket, on its side beside the guardrail

The body of the Chinese tourist, from Henan Province, was on the road. The man had suffered severe head trauma.

Police noted long scrape marks on the side of the road leading up to where the motorbike came to rest.

The body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for standard post-moterm examination while police make arrangements to inform the relevant embassy so the man’s next of kin can be notified.

According to national road safety agency ThaiRSC, 129 people have died in road accidents in Phuket this year, with a further 22,335 people injured in accident’s on the island’s roads.
