The solution, which came in the second round of negotiations with representatives from the company yesterday, follows a period of uncertainty for the seven affected tour companies, including the two ladyboy caberet shows – Simon Cabaret and Aphrodite Cabaret – as well as Sea Star Tour company.
Related parties refused to reach a conclusion in the first round of negotiations earlier this week, with one media outlet reporting that the the Chinese company owed B40 million to 10 companies, but refused to pay.
In yesterday's meeting, Ms Sumalee and Mr Ring Sae-yo, along with lawyers, officials, managers and representatives from 7 companies who had filed a complaint, it was concluded that the Chinese company would pay out the invoices, granted sufficient documentation and paperwork is submitted and reviewed.
The company said it would initially pay 100 per cent for invoices less than B100,000, and pay 30 per cent up front for the invoices that exceed B100,000, the other 70 per cent pending proper review of paperwork and documentation.
Nonetheless, a “pay-out” meeting was set for September 19. The representatives attending the meeting seemed content with the solution.
China has been Phuket's largest tourist market for the past several years. Many Chinese come to the island on tour groups, who are the biggest audiences to ladyboy shows.
