Co-sanctioned by the China Tour and the Asian Development Tour (ADT) and supported by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the tournament runs from June 25-28 and is poised to create a premier competitive platform connecting top-tier talent from China and across Asia, fostering the overall growth of golf in the region, reports the Bangkok Post.
Speaking at a press conference at the Phoenix Gold Golf Bangkok, Wei Qingfeng, secretary-general of the China Golf Association (CGA), highlighted the strategic significance of the event, noting that the tournament represents a significant leap forward in the history of the China Tour.
Aligned with the “Belt and Road Initiative,” the inaugural overseas leg is a proactive exploration by the golf industry to integrate into national development strategies and serves as a vivid example of translating sportsmanship into international cooperation.
Wei expressed his gratitude to the Thai government, event partners, and Lisheng Sports for their collaborative efforts, emphasising that this strategic move will inject powerful momentum into the China Tour’s international influence.
Ken Kudo, general manager of the Asian Development Tour, provided an in-depth perspective on the tournament’s scale and professional stature, revealing that this tournament is the seventh leg of the current ADT season and boasts a prize purse of ¥1.5 million (B7.3mn) - the second highest on the ADT calendar this year.
