The woman, Naranun Ruchichaiyapat, made the news public yesterday (Mar 17) after Panthawat ‘Not’ Nakwisut, CEO of the lottery ticket app Lottery Plus, arrived to present her with the B30 million in cash.

Ms Naranun, who goes by the nickname ‘Nara’, thanked Mr Panthawat. “When Khun Not called me personally, I knew I had won,” she told reporters.

Ms Naranun explained she had bought five tickets with the number 997626 through the Lottery Plus app.

Of the number she had chosen, Ms Naranun said that she thought of the number 26 when she was at a petrol station near Chumphon. She was on her way to see her son in Nong Bua Lamphu at the time.

The first thing Ms Naranun will do with her winnings is to pay off her sister’s car. She will also buy a house.

However, Ms Naranun said she will keep on working. Her mother passed away when she was young, and her father lives in Nong Bua Lumphu, where he raised her son while she worked.

Ms Naranun said she called her father yesterday to tell him the good news.

“I waited for a few hours [before telling him]. I was afraid that he would be shocked and then slowly let the people in the village know.

“After all, the whole of Nong Bua Lamphu will be having a party in its country style. Anyone passing by will stop by to eat in our country style celebrations,” she said.
