Narongchai Wangboonkong, the owner of the motorbike, a blue Honda Scoopy, and Taiwanese tourist Chen Hong Xi, arrived at Chalong Police Station to recover the motorbike yesterday (Dec 12),
Mr Chen had parked the motorbike in front of a house on Wiset Rd, Rawai, when he discovered it was stolen. Mr Narongchai formally reported the motorbike as stolen to Chalong Police on Dec 2, Chalong Police explained.
Officers investigating the theft found that the motorbike had been parked secretly in Soi Saiyuan, in Moo 7, Rawai, hidden under a blue tarpaulin.
Officers tracked down one suspect, named by police only as ‘Mr Anan’, who told police that he was to deliver the motorbike to a ‘Mr Suchat’. Officers later on Dec 5 arrested Suchat at a house in Wichit.
At Chalong Police Station yesterday Mr Narongchai and Mr Chen thanked Chalong Police Chief Pol Col Ekkarat Plaiduang for his officers quickly closing the case within three days and being able to return the motorbike in perfect condition.
Mr Chen said he would tell his fellow Taiwanese nationals to feel confident in travelling to Phuket, reported Chalong Police.
“This is an excellent way to build confidence among tourists,” Mr Chen said.
