Police Lt Kiattisak Sonthong, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) at Chalong Police Station, was pronounced dead after being rushed to hospital following the accident on Chao Fa West Rd.

Wichit Police were notified of the incident at about 1:09am. The crash occurred at a curve near the Wang Talang outlet on the northbound side of Chao Fa West Rd, near the Thepanusorn Rd intersection, in Moo 3, Wichit.

According to the initial report, an eyewitness, Paweena Khamyawiang, contacted police after discovering a man seriously injured and bleeding heavily at the scene.

Investigating officers arrived to find rescue workers performing CPR on the injured officer. He was transported to Dibuk Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead in the emergency room.

Police confirmed that Lt Kiattisak had sustained a severe head injury. A preliminary examination indicated that the fatal injury was consistent with a traffic accident.

The body was subsequently sent to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death in accordance with legal procedures.

Wichit Police Superintendent Pol Col Somsak Thongkliang has been informed of the case. The investigation is being led by Pol Lt Watcharakorn Suwan, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) at Wichit Police Station.

Police have yet to release further details about the circumstances of the crash, yet dashcam footage since provided by another motorist showed the motorbike following at a safe distance behind the car, then drifting to the side and colliding with a roadside barrier, proving that no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
