Acting on a tip-off, officers arranged a sting operation to buy drugs from “Sgt Thanin” (also called ‘Nin’, family name not reported) at the SuperCheap store in Chalong yesterday (Dec 25).
Thanin, a 30-year-old former soldier based in Nakhon Sri Thammarat, was placed under arrest inside the store.
A subsequent search of his unregistered rented room on Luang Por Chaem Rd in Moo 4, Chalong, found 2,740 ya bah pills and 576.8 grams of ya ice.
Police described ‘Sgt Nin’ as a “major player” in the Chalong area.
Thanin was taken to Chalong police Station and charged with Illegal possession of a Category 1 narcotic with intention to sell.
