In October, Chalong Mayor Samran Jindaphol stated that he had two or three locations in mind which he was going to propose to the vendors, and that if the vendors were satisfied with his proposal the building of Chalong Hospital would begin this year. (See story here)
One of the proposed locations was the existing Baan Nakok market which Mayor Samran believed would be suitable as the current vendors at the site sell their wares in the evening, the vendors which were to join them at the site sell in the morning.
Mayor Samran said, “The current vendors at the Baan Nakok market do their business in the evening. I thought it would be suitable because the vendors from the Chalong Hospital market site work in the morning.
“Just when we were at the final stages of moving the new vendors in, the existing vendors changed their mind. They said that they want to do their business in the morning too.”
Mayor Samran admitted that he is facing a tough job negotiating with those vendors in the Baan Nakok market and getting them to accept the new vendors moving in. He stated that a meeting between both vendors will be held this Saturday (November 14).
“If we fail to come to an agreement with the vendors in Baan Nakok we will have to find a new location for the vendors from the Chalong Hospital site which is not easy. However, we will try our best to find a solution,” Mayor Samran said.
In addition, the family who donated the 10 rai plot of land for the hospital to be built have reiterated that they donated the land on the agreement that it was only used to build a public health facility.
If the land is not used for a public health centre or hospital they will take the land back as it not going to be used as agreed.
Furthermore, the B103.2 million budget allocated to build the hospital has already been approved by Public Health Ministry. The construction contract is suppose to be signed in the middle of December at the same time as the land is officially signed over. If that is not done the budget will be lost.
