Police identified the suspect as ‘Mr Kittisak’, also known as ‘Bang Sol’, who was later detained on drug charges by Thalang Police before being transferred to Chalong Police Station for further investigation.
According to Chalong Police, officers received reports of two thefts on May 11. The first involved a car being ransacked at a rental property behind Lung Poon curry restaurant in Moo 8, Chalong, with a shoulder bag containing a land title deed stolen.
The second case involved the theft of a Honda Click 125i motorbike parked in front of a Hokkien noodle shop near the entrance to Wat Chalong. Police said the key had been left inside the vehicle’s glove compartment.
Investigators examining the crime scenes found a Honda Wave motorbike, bearing Phuket licence plate KSR 218, abandoned nearby with no owner claiming it.
CCTV footage later showed the suspect arriving on the abandoned motorcycle before allegedly breaking into the parked car. Police said he then continued on foot and stole the Honda Click motorcycle before fleeing towards the Thalang area.
On May 14, officers at Thalang Police Station informed Chalong Police that they had arrested Mr Kittisak on drug-related charges at a checkpoint.
Chalong investigators subsequently questioned the suspect, who allegedly confessed to both thefts and told police he had abandoned the stolen motorcycles in Bang Tao Soi in the Cherng Talay area.
Police said all stolen property was later recovered and returned to the owners.
Following the arrests, Chalong Police urged residents not to leave keys in their vehicles and to ensure vehicles are properly locked, even when parked at home or in familiar areas.
