Investigators from Phuket City Police Station carried out the arrest at 9pm on Wednesday (Feb 18) at the Hash (ฮาช) shop at the Lamduan Market on Yaowarat Rd, in Moo 5, Ratsada.

Police identified the suspect as ‘Ms Ya’, 46. Officers said they seized 13 jars containing cannabis buds weighing a total of 115g, along with a record of cannabis sales for the month of February.

According to police, the arrest followed an inspection of Lamduan Market, where officers found the shop openly displaying cannabis products on a table. Ms Ya identified herself as the owner of the business.

When asked to present a licence authorising the sale or processing of controlled herbs for commercial purposes, Ms Ya reportedly told officers that her permit had expired.

Police said further checks confirmed that her licence, issued under the Protection and Promotion of Traditional Thai Medicine Act B.E. 2542 (1999), had been valid from January 13, 2023 to December 31, 2025, and had not been renewed.

Officers also questioned Ms Ya about the seized cannabis, which she admitted belonged to her. She reportedly told police she had been selling marijuana at the shop for about three years.

She was charged with selling controlled herbs without permission under the Protection and Promotion of Traditional Thai Medicine Act.

Police said the suspect confessed to the charge. She was taken to Phuket City Police Station for further legal proceedings.
