The advertisement for the two-bedroom house in Sleman district in the central Java province of Yogyakarta was put out last week via BlackBerry Messenger and WhatsApp, but soon went viral after it was posted on social media.
"Rare offer of the century. This house and you can ask the owner for marriage (terms and conditions apply)," the ad said, Tempo.co.id reported.
The owner, 40-year-old Winallia, who is divorced with one child, said few people had expressed real interest in buying the house, which is being offered for 1 billion rupiah (US$75,000), despite the popularity of the ad.
"Instead many reporters have come here," she was quoted as saying.
She said the advertisement was intended to be light-hearted, but admitted that she was looking for a husband after being a single mother for 14 years.
"I didn't expect it to be a sensation. I just wanted to sell the house," she said.
"But if it's fate, I can't say no," she said.
