Pol Lt Col Kraisorn Boonprasop of the Thalang Police was informed of the break-in, in Moo Baan Phanasanthi 3, in Moo 8, Srisoonthorn, at around 3:20pm.

Police arrived at the scene to find Phonphop Chumwan, 45, a neighbour of the homeowner, Thitiphan Bunthrik.

Mr Phonphop had noticed the back door of Mr Thitiphan’s house was open and, suspecting something was wrong, contacted him to ask if anyone had been sent to the house.

Mr Thitiphan denied this and asked his friend to inspect the property.

Upon entering, Mr Phonphop found the house had been ransacked, with several valuable items missing, including: seven sacred amulets, 10 Buddha statues, a 23-inch brass statue of Ganesha, one gold necklace and two diamond-tipped gold rings and nine luxury watches, including Omega and Rolex brands.

The estimated total value of the stolen items is approximately B300,000, police were told.

Officers took an initial statement from the homeowner and have launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being reviewed as police work to identify the suspect.
