Police were called to the resort, near Nai Harn Lake, at about 11pm.
Police arrived with rescue workers from Rawai Municipality and an ambulance from Chalong Hospital EMS Advance Unit. A forensic medical team from Vachira Phuket Hospital also inspected the scene.
The woman* was found hanged by a rope tied to a design structure beside the staircase in the unit.
Police did not report any signs of foul play.
The woman’s body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for further examination.
Police said they had coordinated with the British Embassy to notify the woman’s family and arrange for the repatriation of her body for funeral rites.
