Police Lieutenant Colonel Ret. Somrak from Chalong Police Station, received notification of the incident outside the Patak Rd branch of 7-Eleven around 5:10am this morning and went to the scene immediately.

On arriving at the scene he discovered three vehicles had been involved in a collision: a four-wheel Isuzu pickup truck driven by 27-year-old Hakam Yuso with a Bangkok license plate that had endured heavy damage to the front right bumper and windshield; a Phuket-registered grey Toyota minivan with damage to its front bumper which had been driven by 49-yearold Suradet Sawangsri; and a Honda motorcyle that had been driven by the 34-year-old British man.

The British man* died at the scene, police confirmed.

Initial investigations into the accident from local CCTV footage show that the British man was travelling from Kata Beach and was heading towards the Chalong circle when he cut lanes and collided with the oncoming vehicle of Mr Yuso.

Following the collision, the British man and his bike slid and crashed into the Toyota van, which was parked in a designated zone outside the convenience stall.

An emergency crew arrived shortly afterwards and confirmed that the British man died at the scene and prior to his body being taken to Vachira Hospital for post-mortem examination.
