The prime minister said the foreigner was arrested while trying to cross the border at Ban Pa Rai in Aranyaprathet district in Sa Kaeo province.
He said the person arrested was the primary suspect seen wearing a yellow T-shirt in CCTV footage from the night of the August 17 bombing at the Erawan shrine in Bangkok.
An arrest warrant already has been issued for a person matching his description.
