Officials at Noparat Thara - Phi Phi Islands National Park have ordered all small boats to avoid any unnecessary travel, with strong winds and waves forecast to carry on in the Phang Nga Bay through to tomorrow.
Earlier today February 7 in the same national park, a long tail boat full of six Chinese tourists capsized after it was reportedly struck by two to three meter high waves. One woman, 64, died and her 66-year-old partner is in critical condition as a result.
National Park officials have brought food and provisions to the group of tourists, who have been provided with temporary accommodations on the island.
Should conditions not improve to allow the longtail boat driver to bring them back safely by tomorrow February 8, more assistance will be requested to help bring the tourists back to shore safely.
