Boy, 16, injured in Kathu shooting

PHUKET: Police are investigating an incident that saw a 16-year-old boy shot in the arm near the Phuket Mining Museum early this morning (Mar 27).

Patong Police Deputy Chief Pol Lt Col Phongpipat Khamchumphu was informed of the incident at 1:35am Staff at Patong Hospital reported that a youth had arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to his left arm.

At the hospital, the youth told police that he was riding his motorbike near the Phuket Mining Museum when a man in a pickup approached him, and shot at him. The pickup was last seen heading towards Koh Kaew.

The youth returned to his home, in Moo 6, Kathu (on the east side of Patong Hill), where his mother saw the gunshot wound and rushed him to hospital.

Patong POlice reported they were coordinating with Kathu Police to take over the investigation, as the incident happened in their jurisdiction.
