Police were called to the scene at 6:30am. Officers arrived to find a small crowd of onlookers had gathered.around the body.
The deceased, a woman believed to be about 40 years old, was of Thai or Asian appearance, police noted.
She was found wearing a blue floral dress and black pants. Her upper body was exposed, and police estimate she had been dead for less than 24 hours.
The body was discovered by a local resident exercising along the shore. According to the witness, the corpse appeared to have been carried ashore by the waves, becoming lodged against rocks in the shallow waters.
Fearing the strong tides could carry the body back out to sea, the individual immediately called the police.
Officers have begun checking for reports of missing persons in the area as part of their investigation. The body has been transferred to a forensic doctor for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
At this stage, police cannot confirm whether this was a case of foul play or an accident, officers noted.
Police are continuing their investigation into the woman’s death.
