The body was spotted in the water by passing fishing boat ‘Choktawanchai 17’, whose captain informed Chalong police at about 1:30pm.
Marine officials and officers at the Andaman Tourist Rescue Center at Chalong Pier dispatched a boat to recover the body, which was confirmed to be that of a foreign man.
Although the body was in a life jacket, it appeared to have suffered no injuries.
The man is believed to have died two days before his body was found today.
The body was brought ashore. Phuket Ruamjai Rescue Foundation volunteers then transported it to Vachira Phuket Hospital in Phuket Town for further examination.
Police are hoping to identify the man and the cause of death.
