Police believe the body of the man had been in the shaft for at least two days.

At 7pm, Cherng Talay Investigator, Lt Thanapon Rattanaburi led a team of police and Kusolharm rescue workers to a construction site of a resort and spa in Koktanoat after receiving a call from the site foreman.

The foreman advised that his crew of workers had found the body of a Burmese worker inside the shaft.

Upon arrival at the site, which is a six-storey building, police were led to the body. The man was only wearing a long sleeve T-shirt.

Rescuer workers removed the body and checked for any signs of foul play.

Police said the victim, San Hla Nai, 35, had been dead for at least two days. His skin had begun to decompose and there were signs of a head injury.

They learned that San was employed to take care of all the machinery on the site and had been missing for two days.

Police theorised that San went to the 6th floor to work but fell into the elevator shaft and injured his head by accident. However, they didn̕t rule out the possibility that he had been murdered by a co-worker or workers and dumped in the shaft.

Police are currently gathering more information and evidence to find out exactly what happened to San.
