The alarm was raised at around 2am when officers at Kathu Police Station were notified of a blaze at Tangjai Yontrakan motorcycle shop, located opposite the Kathu Villa housing estate in Moo 2, Kathu.
Pol Lt Col Somchai Nubun, Investigating Officer at Kathu Police Station, rushed to the scene together with Kathu Municipality Disaster Prevention and Mitigation officers. Firefighters battled the flames and managed to bring the blaze under control before it could spread further.
An initial inspection confirmed that at least 10 motorcycles were destroyed, along with parts of the shop. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
The cause of the fire remains unclear. Kathu Police are now working with forensic officers to examine the scene and determine what sparked the blaze.
