While much of the crowds are centred on Bangla Rd, other key roads throughout the town, and especially the Thaweewong Rd (the Patong beach road) and Rath-U-Thit 200 Pi Rd are experiencing long delays as the traffic slows to a crawl.
Traffic Police have taken up positions at key location throughout Patong to help assist traffic flow and to ensure the water play continues safely.
Police have especially asked for people to be wary of petty thieves, and more serious criminals, while so many people are joining the crowds.
The water fights are expected to continue into the night, with the ‘Songkran Music Festival On The Beach 2024’ concerts on the beach starting tonight.
Other key areas across Phuket are experiencing much similar situations, including Saphan Hin, Phuket Town and other key community areas across the island.
The alcohol-free ‘Songkran ‘No L’ Phuket 2024 ‘No L’ on Dibuk Rd in Phuket Town starts at 4pm , and will continue through to 10pm.
