Bang Neow Shrine joins Veg Fest processions

PHUKET: Devotees and ‘mah song’ spirit mediums from the popular Bang Neow Shrine in Phuket Town held their street procession for the Phuket Vegetarian Festival today (Oct 8), the sixth day of the annual festival.

Crowds gathered for the procession through the streets., with the Bang Neow Shrine this year marking its 120th anniversary.

Thousands of locals and tourists alike lined the streets to witness the spectacle, which featured participants from several shrines and organisations.

The procession continued for over three hours, starting from Saphan Hin and moving through Phuket Town, following a detailed route past various key landmarks.

The street processions continue tomorrow (Oct 9) with the Gim Su Ong Shrine in Baan Don taking to the streets at 6:30am.

Other street processions to be held tomorrow include:

  • Guan Yu Shrine (Baan Nabon): Street procession, 7:00am
  • Jui Tui Shrine, 8:00am
  • Guan Tae Gun Baan Pon Shrine, 8:00am
  • Lee Sian Tong Shrine (moo baan), 5:00pm

The fire walking rituals will also continue at the Lee Ong Tong Shrine in Tha Chatchai at 8:15pm and the Bu Seng Tong Shrine at 9pm.
