PHUKET: A 63-year-old Austrian national is being monitored closely at Bangkok Hospital Phuket's Emergency and Trauma Center after she was rescued from drowning off Patong Beach today.

Paramedics at 12:15pm responded to an alert from Patong Beach guards, who rescued the woman in the area of Loma Park.
The woman, who was named as Ms AnneMarie Gusenbauer, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the international hospital this afternoon, and doctors have yet to elaborate on her condition or prognosis.
