Karon Police reported that the incident occurred at around 10:30pm at the Cappadocia restaurant in Karon.

Officers arrived to find glass shattered all across the front of the restaurant and a large amount of blood on the floor.

CCTV footage reviewed by police showed that the man* was sitting at a table in an obvious state of distress. Then, without any warning, he suddenly jumped up and ran head-first into the glass door, shattering it and injuring himself.

He collapsed on the ground outside the premises with heavy bleeding from his right leg, where glass shards had severed a major blood vessel.

Shocked bystanders immediately called an ambulance, and the man was rushed to Chalong Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead a short time later due to massive blood loss.

Police said an investigation was underway to determine the circumstances that led to the man’s erratic behaviour prior to the incident.
