Australian tourist accused of assaulting hotel worker in Patong

PHUKET: An Australian tourist has been accused of assaulting a hotel worker inside a room at a hotel on Bangla Rd early this morning (Apr 24).

Police were notified of the incident at 2:15am after receiving a report of an assault at the Doze Bangla hotel in Patong.

According to police, the incident occurred at about 12:30am inside Room 324, where the suspect, identified as Ridge Geoffrey Gordon Sherlock, 33, an Australian national, assaulted hotel employee Puri Udompanyavith, 38.

Another hotel employee who later entered the room after hearing an argument was also injured while attempting to intervene.

Both Mr Puri and the other hotel employee were both taken to Patong Hospital for treatment.

Investigating officers have accepted the complaint and are continuing to question those involved as part of the investigation.

So far police have not reported the cause of the altercation.
