The incident was reported through a post online by a friend of the woman assaulted, explaining that the assault occurred at about 9:35pm on July 1.

The friend appealed for information that may lead to identifying the man and tracking him down.

Rawai Mayor Aroon Solos later shared CCTV footage of the culprit making his escape on motorbike, though it has not been made clear whether the incident was reported to police.

The friend said she and her friend were on motorbikes, with her friend riding behind. She heard her friend shout, and turned around to see the culprit, described as an Asian male, approximately 25-30 years old and 160-175cm in height.

The man was on a Honda Wave motorbike. He was wearing a a yellow shirt and shorts and had medium-length hair. There was a mole or birthmark on the left side of his face.

The friend said that they shouted out at the man, who turned around as if to confront them, leaving the friend and the victim both very concerned for their safety, but the man then sped off on his motorbike.

CCTV footage provided by Mayor Aroon showed the man riding past the Wat Sawang Arom Temple crematorium at 9:39pm.

However, Mayor Aroon confirmed that there are no CCTV cameras in the area where the incident occurred.

The man was recorded on CCTV at the intersection where the victim turned right into Soi Khok Makham, and the perpetrator turned to follow.

At 9:44pm, the perpetrator is seen riding his motorbike back the same way, and turning right to exit at the entrance to Wat Sawang Arom.
