Anutin on Friday (Sept 26) delivered a keynote speech at the Thailand–China Cooperation Expo 2025, an event marking 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations, reports the Bangkok Post.
The ceremony was presided over by Gen Surayud Chulanont, president of the Privy Council, and attended by Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jiangwei, Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun and Chamber of Commerce Chairman Poj Aramwattananont.
Anutin said Thailand and China should merge their potential in five areas. Seamless connectivity and trade networks can be boosted by logistics and infrastructure upgrades, including the Thai–China high-speed rail linking Asean with southern China and investment in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
Thailand is also a hub of electric vehicle, semiconductor and green battery production, with China as a partner, especially under a new five-year economic joint cooperation plan from 2025–2029, he said.
The two countries can work together in digital technology and innovation by creating cross-border digital platforms and AI research to support small and medium-sized (SME) businesses and start-ups, as well as agriculture and security cooperation and people-to-people exchanges in education, culture, language and tourism, counting on the cultural heritage the two peoples share, said PM Anutin.
He said Thailand is not only China’s economic partner, but also a door to further cooperation with Asean.
Gen Surayud also underlined the long-standing friendship based on mutual trust and non-interference ties.
Bilateral ties over centuries have also been strengthened by historical royal bonds and relations forged between leaders of states. People-to-people links are also close, as expressed in the phrase: "China and Thailand are not far apart, but brothers," he said.
