Patong Police reported receiving a call at 11:45am from staff at a hotel on Nanai Rd, after the guest was discovered unresponsive in his room.
Officers led by Lt Col Chanarong Prakongkeo and rescue workers from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation arrived to find the man lying face down on the bed. He was wearing a black short-sleeved T-shirt, black shorts and white socks.
Police said the man had checked in alone on Sept 19 and was due to check out yesterday. A preliminary examination by a forensic doctor from Vachira Phuket Hospital found no signs of injury or struggle, and the room showed no evidence of a disturbance.
The body has been taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for toxicology tests to determine the cause of death. Police said the US Embassy in Bangkok has been notified to assist in contacting the man’s family.
Authorities are continuing their investigation but confirmed that, at this stage, there are no indications of foul play.
