The owner of the car, Tharathit Na Phatthalung, 33, reported to police today morning (Apr 11) that the incident happened on Chao Fa Suang Luang Rd, where had parked his car, a white sedan, at about 5:30am.

Mr Tharathit said he saw a man trying to get inside his car. Mr Tharathit approached the man, later identified as American Denny Martini, 46, to ask what he was doing.

Martini apparently asked Mr Mr Tharathit, “Is this your car?” Mr Tharathit confirmed that it was, to which Martini then picked up a brick and struck the driver’s side window.

A video of the incident showed Martini hitting the driver’s window with a brick again and trying the door handles to get inside the car, which was obviously locked.

Concerned, Mr Tharathit reported the incident to Wichit Police, who soon arrived and had Martini in custody.

Wichit Police have yet to fully explain why Martini was trying to get into Mr Tharathit’s car. The only explanation offered so far was the Martini said he saw his female partner and his mobile phone inside.

While inspecting the car, police confirmed blood stains were on the driver’s door from Martini’s efforts.

Meanwhile, the damage done to the car is estimated to be more than B20,000, which Martini will be required to pay.
