The All Blacks dominated early on running ahead 21-3, but the Wallabies put on an impressive come back in the second half to narrow the scoreline to 21-17.
But it wasn't meant to be as New Zealand regained their momentum in the final stretch of the match.
The result follows South Africa winning third place by beating Argentina 24-13.
