The checkpoint, staffed by Phuket Airport’s security team in collaboration with Sakhu Police, was in effect from 10am to midday to enforce traffic regulations and prevent illegal items from entering the airport premises.
During the checkpoint inspection, officers stopped a sedan with Songkhla licence plates. A search of the vehicle discovered two ya bah pills, two spur knives and a golf club.
The driver, named by police only as ‘Mr. Wirach’, was taken into custody.
Mr Wirach was then taken to Sakhu Police Station for further legal proceedings, police reported.
