PHUKET: Police have yet to confirm whether a large curved sheet of metal with fixtures attached to it that was found washed ashore at Karon Beach earlier today (Aug 30) was part of an aircraft.

The debris was found this morning by a lifeguard on patrol near the volleyball court on Karon Beach.
Lifeguards and onlookers at the beach joined efforts to pull the debris up unto the beach.
Lifeguards and other people at the scene described the debris as something that looked like part of an aircraft.
Officials are now waiting for experts to inspect the item to determine whether it did previously form part of an aircraft, or served some other purpose.
