“Cpt Wattana Thinphang-nga (68) was not too old to drive an aircraft by law. It is like driving a car, once you have a license and experience there is no age limit. Plus, it was his personal aircraft,” said Lt Col Anukul Nuket, Deputy Chief of the Thalang Police.
“Police have completed the process compiling the evidence, however, we are still waiting for the Aircraft Investigation Committee (AIC) to complete their investigation before any conclusions.
“The AIC’s investigation may take months as they have deemed this a ‘serious case’,” he said.
“They have to thoroughly investigate down to the company that manufactured the engine, in order to find the reason for the crash.
“Now police are waiting for results from the AIC’s investigation.”
Meanwhile, THE head of the AIC team, who refused to be named, said today (Mar 14), “I cannot say how long it will take, as we need to get the engine manufacturer to check the engine to see if it was working properly or not.
“After the checking, the information also needs to be analysed,” he added.
“At the same time, in the other parts of the information collected, we have to go back at a meeting and analyse all the details before creating a graphic simulation of the plane to find the point of failure.
“It may take several months to complete,” he said.
