Adele thanks Phuket in winning Miss Universe 2nd runner-up title

The 23-year-old Thai-Cambodian beauty, affectionately called ‘Andaman’s shining pearl’, stunned the audience when her name was called among the final three.

“I expected to make it into the top three, and I did. It was like a dream,” Adele said.

“When I heard the word ‘Phuket’, I raised my hands to ‘wai’ on stage. I was shocked and happy. I’m grateful for all the support from everyone, including the people of Phuket. There’s been no negative energy, which has allowed me to do my best,” she added.

Adele, who stands 183cm tall, was born in Buriram to a Thai father and Cambodian mother, both rubber tappers. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English from Buriram Rajabhat University before working as ground staff for Qatar Airways and ZIPAIR Tokyo.

Her pageant journey only began this year after contacting a beauty pageant mentor she discovered on TikTok. She first competed in Miss Grand Phuket 2025, where she placed 2nd Runner-up, before going on to capture the Miss Universe Phuket 2025 crown.

At the national stage, she competed alongside 76 other contestants, with the title of Miss Universe Thailand 2025 ultimately going to Veena Praveenar Singh (Miss Universe Saraburi). The 1st Runner-up title went to Praewwanit ‘Praew’ Muangthong (Miss Universe Bangkok).

Looking ahead, Adele said her focus remains on supporting the Miss Universe Thailand organisation.

“Right now, I’d like the pageant to promote international competitions first, and work on my duties with MUT. Then, I’ll decide whether or not to compete again in the future,” she said.

Adele’s success follows another historic win for Phuket earlier this year, when Suchata ‘Opal’ Chuangsri became the first Thai woman crowned Miss World in June.
