Let’s get MAD for Hugo!
Five-year-old Hugo lives in Phuket. He suffers from Mitochondrial disease, a metabolic condition which results in Hugo having global developmental delay. Despite daily challenges Hugo is an inspiration showing determination and resilience through his smiles and patience every day. Hugo’s parents were told that his life expectancy would be short but are hopeful of a cure being found, not just for Hugo but for all the other families affected by this disease.
Phuket4Kids: Where to find fun with the kids?
Question: We have just moved to Phuket for a few months with our 14-month-old. I wondered if you would be able to give me any hints or tips on places to go with her for entertainment, activities and socialising with other children. Are there any regular playgroups? We are currently based in Kamala but happy to travel.
Phuket for Kids: May's monsoon madness
PHUKET: Statistically, and I have checked this, May can be one of the wettest and most humid months of the year on Phuket. Everyone is looking to the sky, and when the rains do not come, tempers become short and children’s behavior can get a little crazy as the weather gets to everyone.
Phuket for kids: Read with me
PHUKET: Phuket is a lovely place for young children to grow and learn. The breeze is balmy, the sea is warm, and the beaches offer hours of entertainment for little ones. Yet where can children go to listen to stories, be inspired and emerge themselves in a good story.
Phuket for kids: Explore your imagination, not the internet
PHUKET: It is may be the wet season but this also means that surf’s up off Phuket. What a great time to get out in the waves and learn to surf. One of the better known surf schools on the island is Skyla’s Beach House, located at the Bliss Beach Club on Bangtao Beach.
Phuket: Anyone for cricket?
PHUKET: In the UK, the cricket season starts mid-April and ends in September. So it is timely for the Phuket Cricket group to be organising weekly games for kids every Saturday from 9am.
Phuket: Take to the water this May
PHUKET: The Ao Chalong Yacht Club (ACYC) has five new Open Bic dinghies for their Junior Sailing programme. You will never find a better place to introduce kids to sailing, with fair winds, calm seas and tropical water warm if you do fall in.
