Although the event was held last Saturday (Oct 7), the event was posted across multiple government channels only yesterday (Oct 11).

More than 200 Kasetsart University alumni from all over the country joined the event, held at Koh Racha Yai, south of Phuket. Kasetsart University is in Bangkok.

Also present for the event was Rear Admiral Suchat Thammapitakwet, Commander of the Third Area Command, based at Cape Panwa.

Rawai Mayor Aroon Solos along with Kasetsart University Alumni Association President Suwit Meksereekul also helped lead the turtle release, joined by Sahapat Ngansathil, President of the Phuket-Phang Nga branch of the Kasetsart University Alumni Association.

Wisit Itthiwarapornkul, owner of the South Siam Divers boat, and Daniel Lim, Managing Director of The Racha resort, also joined the occasion.

The entire event was branded as “to help conserve sea turtles, to live together with the Thai sea forever”.
