The fetus was found dumped in a bin by garbage collectors.

At 8pm, Phuket Investigator, Lt Jariyawat Tanchein, received a call from Kusoldharm rescue workers stating that city garbage collectors had found the fetus of a boy stuffed inside a pink make-up bag.

The city garbage collectors spotted the bag as they sorted garbage at the Poonpol Night Plaza on Poonpol Rd.

The garbage collectors said that they were picking up trash in front of the Kwankaban restaurant and saw the make-up bag and a suitcase left on a bin.

“We wanted to sort out the trash before we dumped it in the chopper, so we opened the bag and the suitcase.

“The suitcase was full of clothes.

“We called Kusoldharm immediately when we saw the fetus,” said a garbage collector.

Inside the bin police saw the fetus wrapped in a grey blanket.

The garbage collectors told police they found the fetus with its face and head pressed into the bag.

The body looked healthy and the umbilical cord had been cut.

The fetus had been dead for about 6 hours said police before taking it to Vachira hospital.

Police theorised that the mother had taken an early termination pill or had an abortion and had then put the fetus inside the bag and threw it in the trash.

Police are currently looking for the mother to bring her in for questioning.
