36,000 meth pills seized in one arrest

PHUKET: Phuket Provincial police have seized more than 36,000 methamphetamine pills (ya bah) in placing just one drug suspect under arrest.

Chanaphon ‘Suea’ Bamrungwong, 36, registered as a resident of Moo 7, Ratsada, was arrested by the side of the road on Soi Patchanee, in Moo 3, Ratsada, yesterday evening, Phuket Provincial Police reported today (Nov 7).

Leading the arrest team was Phuket Provincial Police Crime Suppression Division chief Pol Lt Col Phichit Thongto.

Following Chanaphon’s arrest, officers seized 36,569 ya bah pills and 0.10 grammes of crystal meth (ya ice).

Also seized was Chanaphon’s Honda Wave 110 motorbike and his Samsung mobile phone and Galaxy A34 mobile phone.

Chanapon, whose Thai nickname means ‘Tiger’, was taken to Phuket City Police Station and charged with illegal possession and distribution of a Category 1 narcotic, and with illegally using a Category 1 narcotic.

So far no further details of his arrest have been released.
