The raid, at an unregistered address serving as workers’ accommodation near the entrance to the Baan Prangthong housing estate, was part of a crackdown from Jan 24-28, police reported.
Seized as evidence in the raid was a sheet for playing Po-pan (shrimp, fish, pimps, flowers) along with an assortment of wooden betting chips and B5,410 in cash.
All 23 were charged with gambling without permission, while the homeowner, named only as ‘Mr Yanyong’, 39, was also charged with providing the venue and organising the illegal gambling
One of the other 22 arrested was also charged with acting as the bookmaker for the gambling, police noted in their report.
