Police were informed of the death by Thalang Hospital at around 6:50pm.
Officers, led by Thalang Police Chief Pol Col Nikorn Chuathong, arrived at the hospital to meet the parents
The boy was discovered by a neighbour, Sakda Yaemsaothong, who found the child face down in the water at about 5pm.
The child had been seen playing in the area earlier in the day, police were told.
The family rushed the boy to the hospital, and informed the local headman, Thawatchai Pinchaisiri.
Initial reports from relatives indicated no suspicion surrounding the death, police said.
Police have made no mention of charges for the child’s death.
