Officers moved in at the venue, a residence on Soi Wichit Songkhram 4, at around 9:10pm.
On arrival, officers found the house suspiciously dark, with no visible signs of activity, though many pairs of shoes were left outside.
From their investigation leading to the venue, officers believed the gamblers had a lookout to warn them of any approaching police.
Working with provincial police, the raid team used plain-clothes officers to enter the abode.
Their patience paid off when they confirmed the presence of 17 individuals gambling inside. The officers moved in, arresting all 17 suspects and seizing cash and gambling equipment as evidence.
The group was charged with illegal gambling on a ‘shrimp and fish’ game, which is prohibited without proper permission.
The suspects, along with the seized evidence, were taken to the Phuket City Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
