Acting on a tip-off, officers surrounded the property, a single-story house at 64/16 Soi Karn Keha 5, at 6:30pm yesterday (Dec 10).
On entering the premises, the officers discovered the group seated around a table, with playing cards and cash scattered in plain sight.
Among the evidence seized were five decks of playing cards, a round table, approximately 15 chairs, and B3,000 in cash.
The suspects, 13 Thais and one Myanmar woman, were charged with engaging in illegal gambling activities, specifically playing nine-card poker for money, without authorisation.
The primary suspect, identified as the organiser, also faced charges of arranging gambling without permission. All suspects confessed to the charges, police reported.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the gambling group included high-profile individuals such as the wife of a local Ratsada politician, the wife of a police officer, and a lawyer.
All 14 suspects were taken to Phuket City Police Station for legal proceedings, police confirmed.
