Vice Governors Suthee Tongyam and Punlop Singhasenee have been transferred out of Phuket effective next Thursday (Oct 1) as part of the regular nationwide transfer of government officers around the country.

The Personnel Division of Ministry of the Interior published on Wednesday (Sept 23).

According to the list of transfers, from next Thursday V/Gov Punlop will serve as a Vice Governor of Nakhon Pathom province while V/Gov Suthee will serve as a Vice Governor of Nonthaburi province, both on the outskirts of Bangkok.

Chokdee Amorwat, an inspector at the Department of Local Administration headquarters in Bangkok, and Phuket Provincial Office chief Prajiad Aksornthammakul have been promoted to the posts of Vice Governors of Phuket, also effective from next Thursday.

Phuket Vice Governor Somkiet Sangkaosuttirak will retire next Thursday.

Kajornkiet Rakpanitmanee, the Provincial Office chief of Suphan Buri, will arrive to take up the last remaining post as a Phuket Vice Governor.

“The rotation all of Vice Governors is fairly normal once the Governor of the province is moved,” V/Gov Somkiet told The Phuket News.

“As for me, I’ll be spending more time with my grandchildren and the rest of my family,” he said.

However, there will be one familiar face among Phuket’s top-flight officials. Chamroen Tipayapongthada, who was one of the key figures in the dismantling of the Phuket taxi mafia last year, will return to the island as Governor of the Province next Thursday.

He is currently Vice Governor of Nakhon Pathom province, on the outskirts of Bangkok.

Nisit Jansomwong, who has served as Phuket Governor since October 1 last year, has already been confirmed to be transferred to the post of Governor of Nonthaburi province, also on the outskirts of Bangkok, effective October 1.(See story here.)
